||Ha*lo"nes (hȧ*lō"nēz), n. pl. [NL., fr. Gr. "a`lwn, "a`lwnos, a halo.] (Biol.) Alternating transparent and opaque white rings which are seen outside the blastoderm, on the surface of the developing egg of the hen and other birds.
