newt having starlike spots on its back, fr. stella a star.]
(Zoöl.) A lizard (Stellio vulgaris), common
about the Eastern Mediterranean among ruins. In color it is olive-
green, shaded with black, with small stellate spots. Called also
hardim, and star lizard.
